Personal Experience:

I’m a 32-year-old mom of one who gave birth via C-section 12 weeks ago. I was really worried about ab separation and was recommended two brands of recovery shorts by friends.

I heard great things about SRC Health so I thought I’d try these. I really hate feeling constricted so I thought I’d go for the mid length shorts, and I could try these under leggings. The mini shorts looked great but I have larger thighs and didn’t want a ‘sausage’ look! I ordered the shorts in medium, which is my usual size. I took these with me to the hospital as I’d been advised to do. Two days after my surgery I thought I’d ask the nurse when to wear them. I was professionally advised to put them on when I felt comfortable. I still felt uncomfortable bending to put anything on so I waited another day. When I pulled these up, the shorts felt really tight to start with and I wondered if I’d been overly optimistic about the sizing. But they fit amazingly. I could feel my stomach being tightened in and a general feeling of comfort and high grade support. My scar was protected by the stitching on the fabric, although I would recommend buying maternity underwear to wear underneath them. I regret wearing normal underwear as unfortunately I did irritate my scar with these.

I wore the shorts day and night for 8 weeks, and they were great. They helped to keep my abs warm and supported, and they also helped to reduce swelling. I was able to move around freely without feeling restricted, and I didn’t have any problems with chafing. I washed these every morning and tumble dried them so I could wear them again as quickly as possible. After 8 weeks, I was able to stop wearing the shorts, but I still reach for them on days when I’m feeling a bit bloated or just need some compression. They’re a great way to support my abs and help me feel comfortable.

Overall, I’m over the moon level happy with the SRC Recovery Shorts. They’re comfortable, supportive, and they helped me feel better during my postpartum recovery. My physio confirmed my abdominal muscles have closed back normally too.

I would definitely recommend them to other moms who are looking for a pair of recovery shorts.
